Budget Roofing was contacted in early June 2018 to undertake the replacement of 1700l/m of failing fibreglass at the Bunnings Lidcombe store. The existing skylights were from the original build of the store and had deteriorated and split to such an extent where they were not only allowing water to ingress the building, but also minimising the amount of natural light entering the building.
Bunnings’ key challenge was the work timeline – being such a large business they could not afford to close the store whilst the roofing work was being completed.
We were flexible to this challenge, deploying overnight teams to install the skylights between 10pm (after store close) and 5am when the store reopened. The process involved craning the material onto the roof, removing the existing skylights, and replacing with industrial strength 2400 series skylights.
The benefit of changing skylights on your industrial/commercial property is that once completed, the amount of natural light entering the premises is maximised. This allows the use of artificial lighting to be minimised, gaining huge cost efficiencies for large-scale premises.
Ongoing work with a longstanding client is a testament to the quality of workmanship and trust gained throughout a project. At the time of writing, Budget Roofing is in the process of finalising similar works on further Bunnings stores across NSW.
